The soul of one who serves God always swims in joy, always keeps holiday, is always in her palace of jubilation, ever singing with fresh ardor and fresh pleasure a new song of joy and love.
- St. John of the Cross, Doctor of the Church
The Catholic Mass is not a single celebration on a Sunday, weekday, or feast day, but a starting point for a lifelong journey of Christian witness. The word "Mass" comes from the Latin word missa, which means to be "sent." Therefore, when we attend Mass, we are reminded of our baptismal call to listen to the Word of God and go forth into the world to share the Good News.
There are four parts to a Mass: Introductory Rites, Liturgy of the World, Liturgy of the Eucharist, and Concluding Rites. Priests, deacons, and lay men, women, and children all have important roles during a Mass or liturgy, also known as public worship. We invite you to take a look at some of our current liturgical ministries and prayerfully consider if you are being called to serve in one of them.
